NOT a Monster Movie Fest!

September 12, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 9:00 pm

$5

The Elk Theatre, Flatwoods Monster Museum, and Small Town Monsters have teamed up to Celebrate the 68th anniversary of the sighting of the Flatwoods Monster with back-to-back documentaries that will illustrate the event and show the impact it has had on Braxton County and the world! Screenings will begin at 7:00 p.m. in Downtown Sutton’s historic Elk Theatre on September 12th. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The documentaries shown will include the 22-minute-long short, “The Lantern,” which tells the history of the Flatwoods Monster Lanterns, the first novelty item made in the likeness of the Flatwoods Monster. This will be it’s first, and possibly only, showing on the big screen! The second film, “The Flatwoods Monster: A Legacy of Fear,” by Small Town Monsters, tells the story of the Flatwoods Monster and how it came to shape the people involved in the sighting and the community in which it took place. Just $5.00 gets you a ticket to both screenings and can be pre-purchased online or at the theater box-office. Online ticket sales will stop once 75 tickets have been sold to accommodate day-of ticket sales. The theater can hold 120 people at this time and social distancing practices will be in place. Additionally, a mask is required when entering the building until you reach your seat.
