While visiting Flatwoods, pay respects to the lady who put Flatwoods on the map, Kathleen May. Kathleen passed away in 2009 and was buried alongside her parents at the Flatwoods Cemetery. The cemetery is located just off Stone Run Road in downtown Flatwoods. On top of being famous for witnessing the Flatwoods Monster, Kathleen was also a beautician, active member of the civic group; the Rebekahs, and a devoted mother of three children. Kathleen was known and well liked all over the area. Former acquaintances of hers will often visit the Flatwoods Monster Museum and speak fondly of her.
